Help is still needed as the residents of West, Texas attempt to recover some semblance to normalcy. As most of you are aware, West, Texas suffered a devastating explosion last month.

Many lives were lost, and many more injured. The explosion caused an estimated $100 million in damages to homes, businesses and schools near the fertilizer plant.

This past weekend, we visited the VFW in West, with donations of food and other items.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone whose lives are forever changed by the explosion. We encourage you to help the tight-knit community of West, Texas.

Our Protocols for Sterilization and Instrument Treatment

Dear Patients

I want to explain our protocols for sterilization and instrument treatment, in light of recent news stories. We are concerned about everyone who walks into our office – that is why I always ask you, “Has there been a change in your medical history? Are you taking any new Medications?”

We treat every patient who comes into our office as if they had Hepatitis B, C or
HIV because we (my staff and I) do not want to contract a disease from a patient, and we do not want to transmit a disease to a patient. We follow proper protocols (e.g. single use disposable needles get thrown away in a sharps container, supplies are rotated and not let to expire, and we use approved products). I will be happy to show you our sterilization area and where we dispose of needles etc.

Finally, I can look you, my patients, in the eye and tell you that my staffs’ families and my family come here for dental care and I would not want to transmit any diseases to mine or my staffs’ families. I consider, YOU, my patients, part of my family because you trust us for your dental care. So I am going to treat you like my family. Also, I sit in these same chairs (of the specialists I refer you to) and get my teeth cleaned and treated and I do not want to catch any diseases when I am the patient.

Finally, you should know what the protocols are in the offices of the specialists to whom I refer you, my patients. My family and I have been their patients so I know their procedures and protocols. I am sure that if there are questions with the referring specialists, you should contact their offices for similar answers.

I hope this reassures you and puts your mind at ease as we continue our relationship as trusted professionals.

We’ve had the opportunity this year to work with a wonderful organization called “Attitudes and Attire.” Their “Hopeful Smiles” program is designed to help women seeking self-sufficiency find the dental care they need to restore their smiles, their confidence, and their positive attitude toward life. We were so touched by the stories of each of their clients, and excited to see them progress in their journeys.
